Navigate Canadian Immigration System

All roads lead to Rome can be the very true reflection of Canada’s immigration programs. Some programs are administered by federal, others by provincial governments; some others are selected by skills and/or occupations. Some provide special pathway to foreign students; others favour the transition from foreign temporary workers. There are special programs for entrepreneurs, self-employed and employer sponsorship. So, the question is how to choose your way or the high way or and some other express way.

With over 20 years of experience as a certified immigrant consultant, Cathy Ru will guide you navigating the Canadian immigration system, highlight some of the recent changes and trends, and perspective and insights behind the success in the selection process.

The last 18 months were marked by unprecedented disruption to global economies and labour markets. Although Canada was not spared these impacts, the digital economy proved resilient and a key driver of recovery. Employment in the overall Canadian economy saw severe contractions in 2020, while digital economy employment surged past pre-pandemic levels. This upward trajectory will continue and ICTC forecasts that by 2025, the Canadian digital economy will employ more than 2.26 million workers, representing nearly 11% of all employment. Coming with the addition of 250,000 new jobs, leveraging all supply streams and skilled workers is critical to meet demand and spur future prosperity.

In this session, ICTC’s Alexandra Cutean (Chief Research Officer) and Marc Lijour (VP, Capacity Building and Innovation Readiness) discuss the labour market opportunities available in Canada’s booming digital economy, alongside the programs, training, and supports to match skilled workers with jobs.
